The African Trilogy, Book 1 · Literary Fiction
Things Fall Apart tells the story of Okonkwo, a proud Igbo leader whose life is ruled by a fear of failure and of resembling his father. Through wrestling fame, family strain, exile, and return, Achebe builds a complete world of proverbs, festivals, justice, and belief, then shows what happens when missionaries and a colonial court arrive and that world begins to fracture from inside and out.
